Jason is an attorney from Texas. He chose me to be the artist to do this

painting for his wife Paula's up coming birthday.  Jason wanted a painting

of all of Paula's favorite things and chose me because of my diversity in 

style and subject matter. Paula's favorite things are their three sweet little dogs,

gardens of flowers, a big love for butterflies, a bistro set and cupcakes.

Paula loves to make unique cupcakes. The picture they sent looked so 

good that I wish they could be sent in the mail.

This was suppose to be a big surprise but Jason just had to tell her.

I had a wonderful conversation with Paula on the phone and she told me

all about her butterflies. Paula told me all about this very cool

Butterfly Garden that she bought were she raises her own butterflies.

After she releases them she has special plants that she grows that they

love so they stay around and keep her company.

The Butterfly Garden

Watch them grow then let them go! Raise 3 to 5 Painted Lady butterflies while learning all about metamorphosis with this  butterfly raising kit! See each caterpillar’s transition as it matures, changes into a chrysalid, and finally emerges as a Painted Lady butterfly! After observing your butterflies, experience the joy of releasing them into your backyard! Absolutely safe to release into the environment. How cool is that!

Jason was so adorable in explaining his vision for the painting.

I could tell how important this painting was to him. He gave me total 

artistic freedom to design and paint this painting. I did not even have

to show him concept or sketches. In his summary he said: I just want it

to be "A Place We Want To Be" Hence the title for this painting.

Heavy impasto paint and a bit of metallics.

I know this is a big curve from all the detailed paintings that I have been doing recently.
I was just commissioned to do several abstract paintings so I thought I would get in the groove a little.
Abstracts are so free to paint. Almost anything goes.

The title of this painting reflects rising about the falls of life.
I thought it would be interesting for her to be rising above the waterfalls emerging into a new life,
a new attitude, a new beginning.

Lyle's Golden Syrup is a very popular item in the UK.

This painting is another addition to Art Under The Monkey's Gallery Collection

Golden syrup is a pale treacle. It is a thick, amber-colored form of inverted sugar syrup, made in the process of refining sugar cane juice into sugar , or by treatment of a sugar solution with acid. It is used in a variety of baking recipes and desserts. It has an appearance similar to hone, and is often used as a substitute for people who do not eat honey. It can also be used as a substitute for corn syrup.          

Molasses or dark treacle have a richer colour than golden syrup, and a stronger, slightly bitter flavour.
