"Wine Painting", Wine Label Art, Guayasamin, by k Madison Moore

 Oswaldo Guayasamín
 "Wine Painting," Wine Label  Painting
9 x 12 inches
Oil Painting
SOLD
Connoisseur Wine Masters Series

Oswaldo Guayasamín (July 6, 1919 – March 10, 1999, Quechua Indian and Ecuadorian Master Painter.
His family was poor and his father was a carpenter. He was the first child of 10. He showed an early love for art. He created a Pan-American art and social inequalities which achieved international recognition. He held his first exhibition when he was 23, in 1942.

I admire his work and understand his passion.
This is my favorite painting of Oswaldo's. Pure passion and poverty!
I enjoyed working in this palette of colors. The background is not black. It is raw umber and sienna and is a beautiful contrast to the turquoise and golds. I used a lot of glazes on this painting to create hues and depth of color. Always better in hand than in a photo.

van Gogh Sunflowers Wine Label Painting by k Madison Moore

van Gogh Wine Label

10 x 12 inches
Oil Painting

Connoisseur Wine Masters Series

Who doesn't love van Gogh, one of the greatest painters of all time.
Did you ever see the movie Vincent and Leo?
This is Vincent's story and how his brother always took
care of him and he surely needed a lot of care.
He was mentally unstable most of his life.
He suffered from anxiety and increasingly frequent bouts of mental illness throughout
his life, and died largely unknown, at the age of 37 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Little appreciated during his lifetime, his fame grew in the years after his death.
He has always been known for his Sunflowers and Self Portraits so I thought it
would be nice to do a homage to him using both elements.
The painting in the back ground is a peek at one of
Vincent's sunflowers with an added touch of sunflowers
in the wine glass.

van Gogh's Sunflowers
 Sunflowers (series of paintings)
Original title, in French: Tournesols

Sunflowers  are the subject of two series of still life paintings by the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh. The earlier series executed in Paris in 1887 gives the flowers laying on the ground, while the second set executed a year later in Arles shows bouquets of sunflowers in a vase. In the artist's mind both sets were linked by the name of his friend Paul Gauguin, who acquired two of the Paris versions. About eight months later Van Gogh hoped to welcome and to impress Gauguin again with Sunflowers, now part of the painted décoration he prepared for the guestroom of his Yellow House where Gauguin was supposed to stay in Arles. After Gauguin's departure Van Gogh imagined the two major versions as wings of the Berceuse Triptych, and finally he included them in his exhibit at Les XX in Bruxelles.

As Van Gogh anticipated in 1889, the Sunflowers finally became his, and served - combined with self-portraits - as his artistical arms and alter ego up to the present day: no retrospective Van Gogh exhibition since 1901 voluntarily missed to include them, and a wealth of forgeries as well as record-setting price payed at auction acknowledges their public success: Perhaps, because Van Gogh's Sunflowers are more than his or him - they may be considered, as Gauguin put it, the flower.

Lautrec Wine Bottle Label Oil Painting by k Madison Moore

Toulouse Lautrec Wine Bottle Label Oil Painting
10 x 20 inches
Oil on Canvas
Connoisseur Wine Masters Series

This is really a lovely piece. I wish I was better with a camera but this is really close.
It is so dramatic with the very contemporary lines and the dark background.
The light blue areas are a little more gray in person.
Who doesn't love Lautrec!
Enjoy!

Henri Marie Raymond de Toulouse Lautrec-Monfa

1864 - 1901
Henri Marie Raymond de Toulouse-Lautrec-Monfa or simply Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (24 November 1864 – 9 September 1901) was a French painter, printmaker, draftsman, and illustrator, whose immersion in the colorful and theatrical life of fin de siècle Paris yielded an oeuvre of exciting, elegant and provocative images of the modern and sometimes decadent life of those times. Toulouse-Lautrec is known along with Cézanne, Van Gogh, and Gauguin as one of the greatest painters of the Post-Impressionist period. In a 2005 auction at Christie's auction house a new record was set when "La blanchisseuse", an early painting of a young laundress, sold for $22.4 million U.S.

Abstract Nude Oil Painting by k Madison Moore

Abstract Nude Oil Painting

Emotions in Color II
14 x 18 inches

SOLD

Abstractionism Series

Do you ever associate color with different emotions
that you may be feeling? You know, like when people are angry
and they " see red"? How about blue? Do you think about blue when your
sad or when your cold or when you think of the sky? Try it someday.
Think about a color for your emotions.
You may find it fun and relaxing.

Doing an abstract with many colors once in awhile
is a good exercise for me after doing so many detailed paintings.
This is how I satisfy my need for freedom to let the brush fly
with lots of colors and no definite direction to see what I come up with.
I like this one and the emotion it portrays.
Enjoy!

This abstract nude oil painting had layers and layers of impasto
and heavy paint worked into a web effect. Many shades of blue and turquoise
and a bit of plum. A nice painting for a special place or person.

Canvas Hardwood Panels

Hardwood Panels and The Masters

Canvas is perceived by many people to be the best support for painting, but hardwood should not be shunned and in fact some would argue that it is a superior support as it is rigid, not flexible like canvas.

Many of the paintings that have survived the best from previous centuries are painted on wood panels. The surface being more rigid tends for less cracking of the paint.

Old Masters of the 14th & 15th centuries such as Michelangelo, Picasso and Van Gogh used wood panels primed with a chalk like material for their work as there was no canvas.

The Mona Lisa painted by Leonardo da Vinci in 1503-06 survives today and is painted on wood and in almost perfect condition and with little cracking.

Although they are quite time consuming to construct, I have chosen to use Custom Made Gallery Wrapped Linen Canvas
Hardwood Panels for all of my paintings.

Wine Label Painting Matisse Inspired by k Madison Moore

Wine Label Art Oil Painting Matisse Inspired by k Madison Moore
16 x 20 inches
Oil Painting on Canvas
Connoisseur Wine Masters Series

Matisee Inspired Wine Label Oil Painting
SOLD

Well, I finally decided to try a Wine Label painting in a larger format. I really tried to keep the format simple but I think I find that almost impossible to do. I like to challenge myself all the time so it seems that I always go back to the detail. Even if it is an impressionist master that I am working with, it seems I want some details in the composition. This wine painting took me a very long time to paint.
In this painting is was great to again work with so many brilliant colors. It's amazing how many of the masters worked in an array of many brilliants in one compositions, almost an unlimited palette which is right up my alley.
I was very excited about this composition and couldn't wait to paint it. I really like Matisse's painting of the still life in the window. It kind of served two purposes for this composition, it created the art within art for the wall painting, yet it is also a window, cool! Wine, Food and a Woman...what more could a man ask for? This would make a great gift for a special person in your life.

Enjoy!

Henri Matisse December 31, 1869 - November3, 1954 was a french artist, known for his ues of color and his fluid, brilliant and original draughtsmanship. He was a master draughtsman, printmaker and sculptor but excelled as a painter. Matisse and Picasso are regarded as the greatest painters of the 2oth century. By the 1920's he was hailed as the upholder of the classical tradition of french painting. He was a leading figure in modern art.

Museum Painting Picasso Inspired by k Madison Moore

Picasso - Blue Period Exhibit I

10 x 10 inches
Oil Painting

SOLD

Picasso's Painting
"Le Gourmet"

I think Picasso is on my top favorites list of artists.
Every time I do an exhibit with his paintings
I am inspired to do even more. This is the first oil painting of
Picasso's "Blue Period" Exhibits. I will be doing more along
with his Rose Period. This painting is finished on the sides and ready to hang.

The Blue Period (Spanish: Periodo Azul) of Picasso is the period between 1900 and 1904, when he painted essentially monochromatic paintings in shades of blue and blue-green, only occasionally warmed by other colors. These somber works, inspired by Spain but painted in Paris, are now some of his most popular works, although he had difficulty selling them at the time.

Andrew Warhola (August 6, 1928 – February 22, 1987), more commonly known as Andy Warhol, was an American painter, filmmaker and conceptual artist, who was a leading figure in the movement known as pop art. After a successful career as a commercial illustrator, Warhol became famous worldwide for his work as a painter, avant-garde filmmaker, record producer, author, and public figure known for his membership in wildly diverse social circles that included bohemian street people, distinguished intellectuals, Hollywood celebrities and wealthy aristocrats.
Warhol has been the subject of numerous retrospective exhibitions, books, and feature and documentary films.

Warhol coined the concept of "15 minutes of fame", which refers to the fleeting condition of fame in the modern world, mainly attributed to mass media and transience in human beings.

Wine Label Picasso Dora Marr Oil Painting by k Madison Moore

Picasso Wine Label Oil Painting Dora Marr by k Madison Moore
11 x 14
Oil on Canvas
SOLD - 30 minutes after posting. Thanks so much MS

Dora Marr
I think Picasso is a favorite of many people. He never ceases to amaze me. What must he have been thinking? Dora Marr was his mistress and this is how he saw her. Goodness!
Of course this was a  fun painting for me because the main color is red, My favorite.. I must be on a red kick this week. All the little polka dots and stripes make for an interesting an fun composition.  Enjoy!

 11 x 14 x 1.25 inches
These are my new deeper canvas panels.

Dora Marr au Chat -NEW YORK—Thanks in large part to a mysterious bidder who knew no limits, Sotheby’s Impressionist and Modern sale tonight soared to $207,564,800, its highest tally since May 1990.
A single painting, Pablo Picasso’s Dora Maar au Chat, from 1941 accounted for $95.2 million of that total.
Forty-eight of the 55 lots sold, and the super-charged performance of the Picasso, now ranked as the second most expensive painting ever to sell at auction, helped eclipse the pre-sale high estimate of $190.8 million.
The seated figure is of the Czech-born photographer, whose dual role as muse and mistress to Picasso in the 1930s and ’40s comes alive in this electric portrayal.
Seated throne like in a high-backed wooden armchair, Maar grips the side rails with talon like fingernails, a queen endowed with superpowers. Her bird-like plumage in greens and reds create a gyrating energy.
The Cubist-like space she’s enclosed in barely contains the figure and the very cute but tiny black cat that poses on the seat back.
