24 x 36 x 2 Klimt  Inspired Oil Painting on Canvas

The Kiss (Lovers) was painted by the Austrian  Symbolist painter  Gustav Klimt between 1908 and 1909, the highpoint of his "Golden Period", when he painted a number of works in a similar gilded style. The canvas depicts a couple embracing, their bodies entwined in elaborate robes decorated in a style influenced by both linear constructs of the contemporary Art Nouveau  style and the organic forms of the earlier Arts and Crafts movement.

I have painted The Kiss in so many different compositions. I thought maybe this time an  outside scene would be fun and interesting. Of course I had to add Klimt’s Tree of Life and a cute little Miko the cat looks on.  Klimt was a big cat lover so this was a must. Always fun to see how many ways I can paint the Kiss. This is a fun, colorful happy painting waiting for just the right person to brighten up their life.
