Painting with The Masters - Segment Two
Connoisseur Wine Masters
I just love doing these books for my Collectors.
I try to do at least one a year around the holidays.
They make such wonderful gifts for those that you
do not know what to buy for. All the paintings
are full color and Blurb does great quality.
The image is printed right on the beautiful hard cover.
You also have the option for a softback or a paper
image wrap cover and different qualities of paper.
In the past you could not Preview the entire book,
only the first few pages. This year they made that
change where you can see the entire book, which
really is much nicer. I like to see what I am buying!
Click Preview on the small image to see the book.
You can also purchase it there if you like it.
This year is The Connoisseur Wine Masters Series
I know I have many collectors that collected this series
so they will be happy to have this beautiful book for their
coffee tables.
Enjoy!

I gave this series thought and concept work for over a year and finally executed it. It has been almost a year that I have been creating for this series and is the longest running series yet. I am thrilled at the response. Thanks to my Collectors and New Collectors for your purchases and commissions for this series. Also to my fans for all the great comments. Very much appreciated.
I think this series really speaks for itself. I study each artist as usual and try to gain insight to their personality from what I read and what I see in their work and many times will purchase a video about their lives if available. Then I start to design the painting around elements that I would have or rooms I would live in if I were that artist.
I design the rooms around "my impression" of clips from many of that artists paintings to create the composition for that particular artist. I try to use elements for the flooring, walls and paintings from their work to make the piece all about that artists but with a twist! Using as many bold colors and shapes always makes me happy and creates a definite connection to the artist I am painting.... If I were Kandinsky this is what my Den would look like.
Stay posted for many more. This is going to be a forever series.

CONNOSSEUR WINE MASTER SERIES
This is such an exciting Series for me. I have been working on this idea for a very long time but just could not get all the components together in my mind to execute it.
It wasn't until I found a large box of very old sketches and recordings of work that I did many years ago when I was studying the masters and this original concept was born. Once I saw the sketches and my notes, the compositions for this series just flowed and I couldn't paint them soon enough.
With a new series it generally takes awhile for it to catch on. This series was different. Many of my collectors jumped at owning one or more as well as many new wonderful collectors that I have gained from this series.
I think my excitement for this series shows in every painting that I do. Each one has an excerpt from a painting of the Master that I chose for the piece composed as the Wine Label for the bottles. Since wines have vintage dates, the dates I include, are the birth and death of that particular artist and is a homage of sorts to that Master.
This will be a continuous series for me with no end. I will be painting them in small and large format. I have requests for future projects for installation in fine restaurants and wineries and will be announcing those projects in time along with photos.
If you have a favorite Master or painting that you would like to commission please contact me with your ideas. Thank you to my collectors who have so generously supported me with this series.
"My vision is not to copy the Masters but is a homage to them for my inspirations."

Painting with The Masters
The Masters Series and Segments
by k. Madison Moore
When I first started studying art, of course I went right for the masters to learn techniques and to try too infiltrate their lives through art history. It's endless and always so much more to learn.I knew somewhere in my work along the way, that I would have to somehow incorporate my love for each and every Master Artist into my own compositions.
This is when I started painting my Art Museum Collection Series of Art within Art. The joy of designing the museum interiors fulfilled the architecture and design part of me and made them more fun to paint, as I knew they where the museums of my mind and creativity and not actual brick and mortar museums. Then I pick one of my favorite Masters to study for that museum exhibit. I study ad research and delve into my art history books and sometimes read for hours trying to imagine myself as that artist by escaping into their world though the words and their paintings in my books. After coming back to reality a bit, I select what painting’s are my favorites and the frames for them and on to the people viewing the art.
In addition, I have been working on a new approach to my Museum Paintings. In some of the future paintings I will be incorporating Still Life and an assortment of unique interiors. This entire series will remain with the theme of Paintings within Paintings and People Viewing Art but this Segment of the Masters Series will be titled the Art within Art Series.
My recent Segment to the Masters Series is my new Connoisseur Wine Masters Series. This is so exciting to me. I am really having a great time with this series and the ideas are just flowing so I know this will be a long series.
With this series I like to bring portions of the label into the dimension of reality, even if it is the foot of Etre's woman on to the leaf of the flower in the foreground of the painting. I like that little twist!
I will be doing several for each of my favorite artists and adding many more along the way as far back as the 14th Century.

Art Museum Collection Series
Art Museum Collection Series
Madison's Art Museum Collection Series is another story. She actually did 3 museum paintings about 30 years ago. Madison's mentor that trained her in art restoration showed her a few photos of people viewing art at a recent exhibit that she attended and said, " Wouldn't these photo's make great paintings. At that, she took them home and made them into paintings for her. She never thought about them again. Not until she started her business on the Internet and saw a few artists working in this genre. She loved it. She wanted to do a Series, so she studied many of them to see what they were or were not doing. She found most artists concentrated on the people viewing the art and only included a part of the painting within, or part of the room. There her exhibits were born.
Madison decided that she would step the format up to 9" x 12", most were doing smaller. She wanted to show as much of the museum interior as possible in the space. The museum would include three to five paintings based on her impression of the old masters works. The people viewing the art would be small figures in the paintings to give the impression that the paintings within where huge with heavily detailed frames, yet in all essence, they were Miniature paintings within the painting.
Freedom, this Series gives Madison total freedom. Freedom to visit with the masters, read about their lives on a daily basis, read about their thoughts and what made them tick, why they painted what they painted. Freedom to paint her impressions of the Masters. Freedom to paint in so many colors. Palettes of colors in every hue and depth and pastel, all of which were so exhilarating to mix. Freedom to paint every and any subject from Renoir to Picasso. Freedom with style. Detail is her style, detail and more detail. She seems to always go back to the more realistic. Even the Masters that painted Impressionism that she includes in her Exhibits have that fine detail somewhere.
Some of the exhibits she has painted thus far include Picasso, Renoir, van Gogh, Michelangelo, Seurat, Godward, Warhol, Caillebotte, Margritte, Modigilani, Leighton, Guayasamin, Picabia, O'Keefe and Klimt, to name a few and many, many more to come. On several occasions Madison has been asked to do a clients favorite artist in and exhibit or their children in an exhibit that they visited together. So many wonderful fun ideas.
Then there's the satisfaction of the reactions from Madison's collectors. She has gained so many wonderful collectors and when she started her Museum series the list grew even longer. "In reality, how many of us will ever own a painting of a Master?" Madison's little exhibits of the Masters makes it possible to own many of her Art Museum Collection Series with her impression of the Masters in miniature. "My vision is not to copy the masters but is a homage to them for my inspirations."
I know I just painted a Matisse for my Art within Art Series but his work fits so well with what
I am doing with this series that I decided that there will be several renditions from certain artists that I
feel are great for this series such as Matisse, Picasso and Kandinsky.
I love all the brilliant colors and shapes these artists use in their works.
The flooring is a small clip from one of Matisses paintings as well as the wall, the wall painting, the flowers, table top and of course the painting on the table is Matisse. I wanted to use a cat in this composition so in my searches did find that Matisse did a cat painting. I thought it was so funny so I added it for humor in the right lower corner. His imagination and use of color and cutout shapes always amazed me. Nothing ever seems in proportion yet is so appealing and fun to paint.
Henri Matisse 31 December 1869 – 3 November 1954) was a French Artist, known for his use of color and his fluid and original draughtsmanship. Around 1904 he met Pablo Picasso, who was 12 years younger than he. The two became life-long friends as well as rivals and are often compared; one key difference between them is that Matisse drew and painted from nature, while Picasso was much more inclined to work from imagination.
In 1951 Matisse finished a four-year project of designing the interior, the glass windows and the decorations of the Chapelle du Rosaire de Vence, , often referred to as the Matisse Chapel. This project was the result of the close friendship between Matisse and Sister Jacques-Marie.[He had hired her as a nurse and model in 1941 before she became a Dominican Nun and they met again in Vence and started the collaboration, a story related in her 1992 book Henri Matisse: La Chapelle de Vence and in the 2003 documentary "A Model for Matisse". He established a museum dedicated to his work in 1952, in his birthplace city, and this museum is now the third-largest collection of Matisse works in France. Matisse died of a heart attack at the age of 84 in 1954. He is interred in the cemetery of the Monastère Notre Dame de Cimiez, near Nice.
This painting was a complete surprise even to me. I had a dream about Jackson Pollock
just going wild with all of his paint cans and just throwing paint all over the place.
I actually woke up and went into the studio at 3AM to do some quick sketches and notes before
I forgot my dream.
The next day I sketched it all out and started squeezing in a few hours here and
there between my commission work to get it painted. I already had a few more art within art paintings started but I just had to get this one finished first. I work several at a time in between other projects as they have many layers of paint and glazes so while they are drying a bit in between layers, I get my commission work completed.
If you haven't seen the move Ed Harris did a great job of directing and starring in Pollock.
He was a reclusive alcoholic and was a mad man when he painted, hence the title Pollock Unleashed!
Paul Jackson Pollock (January 28, 1912 – August 11, 1956) was an influential American painter and a major figure in the abstract impressionist movement. During his lifetime, Pollock enjoyed considerable fame and notoriety. He was regarded as a mostly reclusive artist. He had a volatile personality, sometimes struggling with alcoholism. In 1945, he married the artist Lee Krasner, who became an important influence on his career and on his legacy
Pollock died at the age of 44 in an alcohol-related car accident. In December 1956, he was given a memorial retrospective exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City, and a larger more comprehensive exhibition there in 1967. More recently, in 1998 and 1999, his work was honored with large-scale retrospective exhibitions at MoMA and at The Tate in London.
In 2000, Pollock was the subject of an Academy Award–winning film Pollock directed by and starring Ed Harris.
Wow...is all I can say! This painting took a very long time to paint!
I started it weeks ago and have been working in in between my commissions and other projects.
I could only manage to get one painting done this week for this series as I am blessed to
have many sales and commissions from this series that I am working on.
Thanks so much to all my collectors for the commission projects and your patience as each Art within
Art painting is so detailed and has so many layers of paint and glazes that they take quite some time to paint. Great paintings take time and cannot be rushed!
In this painting the back wall is a Kandinsky painting with my additions, the flowers are from a Kandinsky painting, I was surprised he painted flowers....the carpet is also from a Kandinsky painting as well as some of the other symbols he used such as the prints in the pillows.
This is how I would visualize Kandinsky today studying art in his personal Den and enjoying a nice glass of wine with his art surrounding him. I wouldn't mind having a room like this myself!
"Color is the keyboard, the eyes are the harmonies, the soul is the piano with many strings. The artist is the hand that plays, touching one key or another, to cause vibrations in the soul."
Wassily Wassilyevich Kandinsky 4 December 4 December] 1866 – 13 December 1944) was a Russian Painter and art theorist. He is credited with painting the first modern abstract works.
Kandinsky's creation of purely abstract work followed a long period of development and maturation of intense theoretical thought based on his personal artistic experiences. He called this devotion to inner beauty fervor of spirit, and deep spiritual desire inner necessity, which was a central aspect of his art.
QUOTE:
That it was a haystack the cataloge informed me. I could not recognize it. This non-recognition was painful to me. I considered that the painter had no right to paint indistinctly. I dully felt that the object of the painting was missing. And I noticed with surprise and confusion that the picture not only gripped me, but impressed itself ineradicably on my memory. Painting took on a fairy-tale power and splendor. Read more about Wassley Kandisky's Life Here
I always loved Matisse's Red Studio painting. It seems as he just left everything and stepped out.
In this rendition of his studio I added an easel and chairs and traded out the paintings in his original to my favorite paintings of his. I also added the wine bottle and glass and made several other changes.
This is a difficult painting to do with the background being solid red and the furniture just being outlines of yellow. I am including a video of The Red Studio by Matisse so you can compare the differences. I have been working in this here and there for a very long time and finally finished it. Yay!
Henri Matisse December 31 1869 – November 3 1954) was a French Artist known for his use of color and his fluid and original design. He was known primarily as a painter. . I rarely paint living artists for my Master Series. However, I thought I might do a few of my favorites as a living homage to them. With these paintings I have / will more less do my rendition of their works with several changes not to try to dead copy the artist. They will be my impression and close enough in detail to honor these wonderful living artists as "My vision is not to copy the Masters but is a homage to them for my inspirations."
Artists like Itzchak Tarky, Wassley Kandinsky and Picasso all use and array of several colors and never or rarely work in a limited palette. So many times I hear from my collectors that they enjoy that I am diverse not only in my subjects but love my use of many colors and details. I have to attribute my use of color to the many masters that let their palette's flow and use many colors in their compositions. I have learned so much from them and enjoy honoring them in my works.
Itzchak Tarkay (born 1935) is an Austrian-born Israeli painter and watercolourist.
His art is influenced by French Impressionism, and Post Impressionism, particularly Matisse and Toulouse-Lautrec . His work was exhibited at the International Art Expo in New York in 1986 and 1987, and he has been the subject of three books. Family Itzchack Tarkay married Bruria Tarkay, and has two sons, Adi and Itay Tarkay. Itay Tarkay has 3 children, Omer and Ilay Tarkay, while Adi has 3 kids, 2 from his first marriage and one from his 2nd. (Danielle, Yarden, Tair Tarkay). Itzchack Tarkay is a loving grandparent and father, having a pretty large family.
I have been wanting to do a painting about this subject to post with these photos but I just don't have the time. I decided to do a post about it to keep my blog rolling.
I think this is very interesting. My husband Dominic was shopping one day and as he approached our SUV he saw a woman drop a bunch of change on the ground outside of her car. She just looked at it, shrugged her shoulders and got in her car and left without picking it up.
Dominic went over and picked it up off the ground and there was $1.84 all together. He found it amazing that it didn't mean enough to her to bend over and pick up her own money. Ok, $1.84 is not going to make anyone rich but still, it's "money"! Especially in this economy when every penny counts. I bet there are people out there that "wish" they had $1.84 to get a little something to eat!
So...Dominic made this a little project for himself. Since he does "all" of the shopping for our household and is in many stores weekly, he decided to start looking down....in the stores, parking lots, drive through, restaurants, gas stations, Walmart, Post Office, etc.
Every day he would come home with a handful of change that he stored in his little wood box. He did this project for 4 months before he counted all the change he found. In the end he found $99.84.
Wow, that is definitely "Found Money"!
As I said this won't make us rich but we find it quite amazing how many people do not pick up their change from the ground! We did a search on this so click the links to review.
I am having so much fun painting this series. It finally all came together after a year of thinking about how to approach this series and now the ideas are endless so there will be many more coming.
I always admired Paloma Picasso's designs and thought it would be cool to do a painting about her.
I imagined being the daughter of Pablo Picasso that she would be as colorful and extravagant as her father in her personal taste so I thought this painting would project her personality.
It was a lot of work doing all the little details but working with so many colors is always my favorite when doing a painting.
Although Paloma designed jewelery for Tiffnay I thought it was a good idea to do the little Tiffany Lamp on the dresser to represent her with Tiffany. I have posted a video here of Paloma and some of her jewelry.
Paloma also has her own fragrance line so the black perfume bottle on the dresser is her well known design and there is a link below for you to view them. The handbag on the sofa is also a Paloma design
as well as the sunglasses and the slippers.
The photo in the frame on the dresser is a sketch that Pablo Picasso did of Paloma's mother and I thought this was a nice personal touch for this painting.
Anne Paloma Picasso (born 19 April 1949 in Vallauris, France) known professionally as Paloma Picasso, is a French/Spanish fashion designer and businesswoman, best known for her jewelry designs and signature perfumes. She is the youngest daughter of famed 20th-century artist Pablo Picasso and painter and writer Françoise Gilot. Paloma Picasso's older brother is Claude, her half brother is Paulo and her half sister is Maya.
Paloma literally means "dove" (or "pigeon") in Spanish. Paloma Picasso is represented in many of her father's works, such as Paloma with an Orange and Paloma in Blue.[
In 2000, Picasso, known for her bold colors and books, took her home accessories in a new direction. The once bright primary colors gave way to gray, gold, and tan. This shift was also reflected in Picasso’s personal appearance since she dispensed with the fire truck-engine-red lipstick favored by her since the age of 17.
Long before guest designers created collections for mass-market retailers and celebutantes became artistic advisors to fashion houses, Paloma Picasso began designing a line of jewelry with her name attached to it for Tiffany &Co. Eventually, she became a brand of her own, with accessories and scents and home furnishings, among other products.
I came across and article about the Baby Grand Piano that Per Max painted in his studio. He just completed painting a Boeing Jet and another piano for Ringo Starr. I guess Peter is moving on the bigger things!
Several collectors have been asking me for my impression of
more Peter Max so here it is. This painting was such fun as I got
to use several wonderful brilliant colors in one composition and as
you know this always makes me happy! I think this is one of the
reasons I adore Peter Max.
Many of the elements in this painting are from snip it's from
Peter Max's work
but with many changes since he is a living artist.
The wallpaper and carpet are from PM's paintings, the little
pillow on the
chair, the man standing in the rain with his umbrella in the window, the
vase of flowers and of course the piano are all Peter Max.
I think it makes a great homage to him for his wonderful brave work!
If you see a sold paintings and would like a similar

World-renowned artist Peter Maxwill unveil a one-of-a-kind Baldwin Mi Artist Grand Piano, painted by the artist himself, on Friday November 24 at 6 p.m., as he kicks off his Thanksgiving weekend exhibition at The Art of Peter Max Gallery in the Forum Shops in Las Vegas. Max is currently painting the Baldwin piano in his studio in New York, which will be completed and arrive just in time for the Thanksgiving weekend event.
Peter Max is no stranger to painting large works of art. Earlier this year, he painted a Baldwin piano for Ringo Star that they unveiled together on “Good Morning America”. Additionally, in 2000 Max painted the largest Boeing 777 Continental jumbo jet that flies around the world.

Hardwood Panels and The Masters Canvas is perceived by many people to be the best support for painting, but hardwood should not be shunned and in fact some would argue that it is a superior support as it is rigid, not flexible like canvas.
Many of the paintings that have survived the best from previous centuries are painted on wood panels. The surface being more rigid tends for less cracking of the paint.
Old Masters of the 14th & 15th centuries such as Michelangelo, Picasso and Van Gogh used wood panels primed with a chalk like material for their work as there was no canvas.
The Mona Lisa painted by Leonardo da Vinci in 1503-06 survives today and is painted on wood and in almost perfect condition and with little cracking.
Although they are quite time consuming to construct, I have chosen to useCustom Made Gallery Wrapped Linen Canvas Hardwood Panelsfor all of my paintings.
Although I do paint the sides of my paintings for those who prefer "not" to frame. I thought it would be nice to offer a beautiful, simple frame for those that "do" want to frame their paintings. Many of my paintings include floater frames but may still be purchased without if you prefer. If you see available paintings that are not framed upon request we will make a frame for you. These frames are custom made for my paintings only and not for sale to other venues. Please contact me for information.
