Bearden Picasso Art Musem Painting by k Madison Moore
Romare Bearden Celebrating Picasso Exhibit
11 x 14 inches
Oil on Canvas
Art within Art Series
SOLD
This painting was a dream! I had a very long conversation with a collector / friend who always has such great suggestions for me for new work. She fills my head with so many ideas that sometimes when I am trying to work out a design some of the paintings start running together. This is one of them. I was studying Picasso and Bearden at the same time. I went to sleep thinking about the composition and saw two Bearden paintings of musicians running together and a Picasso's paintings floating in the background. The next day I combined my impression of a few of his musicians from two of his paintings for the band and saw them in a very vivid colored room full of Picasso paintings floating across the walls. Such fun to paint in my dreams! LOL!
This is the first of my Art Museum Collection Series II.
Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno MarÃa de los Remedios Cipriano de la SantÃsima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso (25 October 1881 – 8 April 1973) was a Spanish painter, draughtsman, and sculptor. Commonly known simply as Picasso, he is one of the most recognized figures in 20th-century art. He is best known for co-founding the Cubist movement and for the wide variety of styles embodied in his work. Among his most famous works are the proto-Cubist Les Demoiselles d'Avignon (1907) and Guernica (1937), his portrayal of the German bombing of Guernica during the Spanish Civil War.

Chagall Wine Label Art, Wine Painting by k Madison Moore
My Birthday Painting
"There's a Party Above the Town!"
Inspired by Marc Chagall
10 x 12 inches
Oil on Canvas
Connoisseur Wine Masters Series
There's a Party Above the Town
Another fun painting to do. Any time I can use a variety of bright colors, I'm happy.
"When Matisse dies," Pablo Picasso remarked in the 1950s, "Chagall will be the only painter left who understands what color really is.
I saw Chagall many years ago at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. What a great exhibit. I heard at the time that he would not be back in Philly in my life time so for my birthday that year, my girfriend took me to see him. I was remembering this as tomorrow is yet "another" birthday, so I decided to paint
Marc Chagall - "Double portrait au verre de vin" - (1917-18) - " Above the Town".
Because it's my birthday painting, I decided to call it "There's a Party Above the Town" It was fun separating the figures and and giving the female a full face. I like him much better hugging the wine bottle rather than sitting on her shoulders. Sometimes I wonder where Chagall's head was when he did things like that. What does this represent? My painting represent me and Dominic on top of our mountain, overlooking the town...with a giant bottle of wine, toasting my birthday.
I am so happy that I took a break from a very heavy commission schedule to celebrate my birthday playing in paint with Marc Chagall. Enjoy!
Above The Town
by Marc Chagall
He was known to have two basic reputations, writes Lewis – as a pioneer of modernism, and as a major Jewish artist. He experienced modernism’s golden age in Paris, where "he synthesized the art forms of Cubism, Symbolism, and Fauvism, and the influence of Fauvism gave rise to Surrealism." Yet throughout these phases of his style "he remained most emphatically a Jewish artist, whose work was one long dreamy reverie of life in his native village of Vitebsk."

Wine Painting, Wine Art, Wine Label Painting by k Madison Moore
"Modi on The Runway"
Connoisseur Wine Masters Series
16 x 20 inches
Oil on Canvas
Sold Thanks again MS.
"Modi on The Runway"
w/ Floater Frame
(or without frame if you prefer)
I was looking though some very old photos and came across some modeling photos from
when I was very young and taught modeling for John Robert Powers Modeling School.
In one of the shows we had a huge poster that the models walked towards. In one of the photos there
was a very strong image of a reflection onto the run way of the poster.
This was my inspiration for this painting and since I have not done a wine label
of one of my very favorite artists, Modigliani, this was a perfect idea!
The background is slightly more taupe than it is showing here, a few shades
lighter than the floor and makes a great color for any wall.
I especially had fun painting the reflection of the bottle in the main painting, then the reflection of the reflection onto the floor. So much fun. Enjoy!

Inspiration:
What can I say about Picasso? If your a fan you know by now that
I am very inspired by Picasso and use many excerpts of his paintings
for inspiration for both my Museum Series paintings and my Connoisseur Wine Master Series.
The combination of shapes and colors that create his compostions are always
great for me, an artist that will use any and all colors and mixed palettes of cool and warm, whatever, as long as it nakes me happy when I am painting. Being inspired by Picasso makes me happy.
The more I work with him the more I feel like I am getting into his head, getting to know him!
This was great fun to paint, especially the glass and ice cubes.
Enjoy!
My New Product
These frames are sold only for my paintings and not to the general public.

Penguin Books Painting by k Madison Moore
Penguin Books Oil Painting
26" x 28"

Penguin paperbacks were the brainchild of Allen Lane, then a director of The Bodley Head. After a weekend visiting Agatha Christie in Devon, he found himself on a platform at Exeter station searching its bookstall for something to read on his journey back to London, but discovered only popular magazines and reprints of Victorian novels.
Appalled by the selection on offer, Lane decided that good quality contemporary fiction should be made available at an attractive price and sold not just in traditional bookshops, but also in railway stations, tobacconists and chain stores.
He also wanted a 'dignified but flippant' symbol for his new business. His secretary suggested a Penguin and another employee was sent to London Zoo to make some sketches. Seventy years later Penguin is still one of the most recognizable brands in the world.
The first Penguin paperbacks appeared in the summer of 1935 and included works by Ernest Hemingway, Andr. Maurois and Agatha Christie. They were colour coded (orange for fiction, blue for biography, green for crime) and cost just sixpence, the same price as a packet of cigarettes. The way the public thought about books changed forever - the paperback revolution had begun.
'We believed in the existence in this country of a vast reading public for intelligent books at a low price, and staked everything on it'Penguin became a separate company in 1936 and set up premises in the Crypt of the Holy Trinity Church on Marylebone Road, using a fairground slide to receive deliveries from the street above. Within twelve months, it had sold a staggering 3 million paperbacks. Traditional publishers tended to view Penguin with suspicion and uncertainty, as did some authors.

"Wine", Wine Art, Wine Label Painting, Alphonse Mucha by k Madison Moore
Alphonse Mucha Wine Label Painting
12 x 16 inches
Oil on Canvas
Created in 1898 as an ad for Job cigarettes,
this poster is a famous Art Nouveau work.
Connoisseur Wine Masters Series
Alphonse Maria Mucha - (24 July 1860 – 14 July 1939) was a Czech Art Nouveau painter and decorative artists most knon for his images of women. He produced many paintings, illustrations, advertisement and designs.
I really liked doing all the little detail on this wine painting.
The background looks black in the photo, however is actually a very deep plum
and a beautiful contrast with the geen and golds in the palette.

I like the contrast of the bold label against the floating glasses intertwined
and somewhat abstracted. The wide 16 x 12 inch canvas

was a nice change along with a brilliant white background.
Really enjoyed this painting. Hope you do too.

"Wine Painting," Wine Label Art, Warhol by k Madison Moore
Wine Painting - Warhol
Warhol - The King of Pop Art. I always enjoy visiting Andy Warhol and creating my
tributes to him. This painting is 14 x 18 inches and would be great in a home bar area or a kitchen or dining area. The painting continues onto the sides so no frame is necessary
Andrew Warhola, August 6, 1928 – February 22, 1987), more commonly known as Andy Warhol, was an American painter, printmaker, and filmmaker who was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art. After a successful career as a commercial illustrator, Warhol became famous worldwide for his work as a painter, avant-garde filmmaker, record producer, author, and public figure known for his membership in wildly diverse social circles that included bohemian street people, distinguished intellectuals, Hollywood celebrities and wealthy aristocrats.
