I have been wanting to do a painting about this subject to post with these photos but I just don't have the time. I decided to do a post about it to keep my blog rolling.
I think this is very interesting. My husband Dominic was shopping one day and as he approached our SUV he saw a woman drop a bunch of change on the ground outside of her car. She just looked at it, shrugged her shoulders and got in her car and left without picking it up.
Dominic went over and picked it up off the ground and there was $1.84 all together. He found it amazing that it didn't mean enough to her to bend over and pick up her own money. Ok, $1.84 is not going to make anyone rich but still, it's "money"! Especially in this economy when every penny counts. I bet there are people out there that "wish" they had $1.84 to get a little something to eat!
So...Dominic made this a little project for himself. Since he does "all" of the shopping for our household and is in many stores weekly, he decided to start looking down....in the stores, parking lots, drive through, restaurants, gas stations, Walmart, Post Office, etc.
Every day he would come home with a handful of change that he stored in his little wood box. He did this project for 4 months before he counted all the change he found. In the end he found $99.84.
Wow, that is definitely "Found Money"!
As I said this won't make us rich but we find it quite amazing how many people do not pick up their change from the ground! We did a search on this so click the links to review.

That is really fascinating! I wonder what that woman's story was. We always keep a coffee cup on the counter that our pocket change goes into... it's the emergency grocery money. I had to roll it up last week and it came to about $68. It adds up fast!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I remember reading once that if Bill Gates stooped down to pick up a quarter, the theory was he would lose $20 in that time.
What a great comment! Gave me a good laugh! Thanks so much,
