Giant Penquin Book Painting by k Madison Moore
The Picture of Dorian Gray
by
Oscar Wilde
Giant Penguin Book
17 x 28 inches
Commission - SOLD
Another Giant Penguin Book for my Gallery in the UK.
I have more fun painting these books. This is the second of
many I hope. The next one is one composition of 15
Penguin Books on one large canvas which will be for the
gallery owners private collection.
Penguin Books is based in the Uk and is the
largest publisher there so these books are very popular.
I remember reading these when I was in school...and
that was a loooong time ago!

Alphonse Mucha Wine Label Painting by k Madison Moore
Alphonse Maria Mucha
Connoisseur Wine Masters Series
SOLD
9 x 12 inches
Oil Painting
I am back after a very long bout with the flu.
I really missed doing my Wine Label Paintings
so this is the first of many more to come.
If you have a favorite artist that you would like
to have painted as a wine label please contact
me so we can design someting special just for you.
Wine Label Paintings also make great gifts
for the holidays.
Although this painting is designed after Mucha
I, of course, took liberty to do my own things and
added many more flowers and details to the dress.
Alphonse Maria Mucha listen (help·info) (24 July 1860 – 14 July 1939) was a Czech Art Nouveau painter and decorative artist, most well known for his images of women. He produced many paintings, illustrations, advertisements and designs.
By the time of his death, Mucha's style was considered outdated. However, his son, author Jiřà Mucha, devoted much of his life to writing about him and bringing attention to his art. Interest in Mucha's distinctive style experienced a strong revival in the 1960s (with a general interest in Art Nouveau) and is particularly evident in the psychedelic posters of Hapshash and the Colored Coat, the collective name for two British artists, Michael English and Nigel Waymouth, who designed posters for groups such as Pink Floyd and The Incredible String Band.
In his own country, the new authorities were not interested in Mucha. His Slav Epic was rolled and stored for twenty-five years before being shown in Moravsky Krumlov and only recently has a Mucha museum appeared in Prague, run by his grandson, John Mucha.

Wine Label Oil Painting by k Madison Moore
Connoisseur Wine Label
11 x 14 inches
SOLD
Many years ago I had the idea to design Labels
11 x 14 inches
SOLD
Many years ago I had the idea to design Labels
for Spirits in Combination with bits of the Masters
works of art as part of the label design.
I recently found my portfolio of sketches and notes so decided
to go forward with this series of oil paintings. Some of the Labels will have the artists
life dates and others will have the dates of the paintings if they can be found.
I think this will be a fun series as well as wonderful personal gift
for someone special.

Barbier Wine Label Painting by k Madison Moore
Barbier Wine Label
9 x 12 inches
Oil Painting
Connoisseur Wine Masters Series
George Barbier (1882 - 1932) was one of the great French illustrators of the early 20th century. Born in Nantes, France on October 10, 1882, Barbier was 29 years old when he mounted his first exhibition in 1911 and was subsequently swept to the forefront of his profession with commissions to design theatre and ballet costumes, to illustrate books, and to produce haute couture fashion illustrations.
I am so glad that I am not an illustrator. I can't image doing all those highly detailed
paintings is the huge sizes th illustrators like Barbier, Erte and Much. However, I just had
to try to see where it would take me. This is more my impression of one of Barier's
illustrations. I thought adding all the other elements would make a great wine label painting.

Wine Label Klimt Oil Painting by k Madison Moore

11 x 14 Oil Painting
Connoisseur Wine Masters Series

Gustav Klimt (July 14, 1862 – February 6, 1918) was an Austrian Symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Art Nouveau (Vienna Secession) movement. His major works include paintings, murals, sketches, and other art objects, many of which are on display in the Vienna Secession gallery. Klimt's primary subject was the female body, and his works are marked by a frank eroticism—nowhere is this more apparent than in his numerous drawings in pencil.

"Margritte Wine Label" Painting by k Madison Moore
Magritte Wine Label
9 x 12 inches
Oil Painting
Connoisseur Wine Masters Series
SOLD
If you know about Magritte's "Son of Man" then
you should appreciate the humor behind my painting.
I love the humor in his paintings so I thought by
misplacing the apple it would just add additional
humorous twist.
Keep watching...more to come!

Pierre-Auguste Renoir Quotes
“The work of art must seize upon you, wrap you up in itself and carry you away. It is the means by which the artist conveys his passion. It is the current which he puts forth, which sweeps you along in his passion”
“I've been forty years discovering that the queen of all colors is black.”
“Shall I tell you what I think are the two qualities of a work of art? First, it must be the indescribable, and second, it must be inimitable.”

The Bauhaus (1922–1933)
"On White II" (Kandinsky 1923)
The Bauhaus was an innovative architecture and art school whose objectives included the merging of plastic arts with applied arts, reflected in its teaching methods based on the theoretical and practical application of the plastic arts synthesis. Kandinsky taught the basic design class for beginners, the course on advanced theory as well as conducting painting classes and a workshop where he completed his color theory with new elements of form psychology. The development of his works on forms study, particularly on point and different forms of lines, lead to the publication of his second major theoretical book Point and Line to Plane in 1926. Geometrical elements took on increasing importance in his teaching as well
as in his painting, particularly circle, half-circle, the angle, straight lines and curves.
