I adore Rivera and his huge Calla Lily's This is also my very favorite flower. I have a 24" tall crystal vase for just three calla lilies and it's a piece if art in itself. Imagine seeing this painted on a huge wall in Mexico like Rivera did so many times. I wanted to project what that would look like by making the lovers very small in front of the painting. This was a joy to paint. I will be painting more Rivera's along the way. Enjoy!

For more information:

About the Artist - Diego Rivera

Diego Rivera’s “El Venedor de Alcatraces” uses strong colors and stylized, densely composed forms to portray a native Mexican peasant, representative of the burden borne by that country’s working class. Rivera (1886 – 1957) supported revolutionary politics, and strove to convey his ideal of a socialist utopia to Mexicans through frescoes which depicted Mexico’s history and social challenges. Creating art that would be easily accessible to working class people, Rivera revived outdoor mural painting, depicting historical scenes as tributes to folk traditions, making him one of Mexico’s most adored and influential artists. © Art.com www.art.com

The more I studyBold Ecuadorian artist, the more fascinated I become with them. Earlier this
year I painted and exhibit with Oswaldo Guayasamin who was also from Ecuador. The exaggerated hands seem to be of great importance to both of these artists, particularly Kingman who was known as the painter of hands. I so much enjoy painting these art museum oil paintings. It gives me time to bury myself in art history, visiting the masters and their work and when I am painting them makes me wonder what was going on in their lives at the time that painted that particular painting, why that stroke, why that color, why that texture. A wonderful experience.

Eduardo Kingman (1913-1998) was one of Ecuador's greatest artists of the 20th century, among the art circles of other master artists such as Oswaldo Guayasamin and Camilo Egas.

Kingman was born in Loja, Ecuador on February 3, 1913.[ He first studied under Victor Mideros at the Escuela de Bellas Artes, in Quito. Further studies took him to Venezuela, Peru, Bolivia and finally to San Francisco Art Institute, California (1945-1946).

People from the United States first became acquainted with Kingman's art in 1939, when he assisted Camilo Egas with the paintings and decorations for the Ecuadorian Pavilion at the New York World's Fair.

Spiraled Aura Blue

12" x 12"
Blue Nude
Oil Painting

Drama Works Series

My Blue Nude series oil paintings have been a big hit since I started the series in 2008.
I have decided to keep going with this series in 2009. I really enjoy working with the human
form to see how many positions and directions I can twist the body into in a painting.
I sometimes don't know how to classify them, abstract, expressionism, surrealism...?
I do know that the blue nudes live in many places in the USA and the UK so that makes me happy.

For more information:

Mysticism and the Color Blue

In the metaphysics of the "New Age Prophetess", Alice Bailey, in her system called the Seven Rays which classifies humans into seven different metaphysical psychological types, the "first ray" of "will-power" is represented by the color blue. People who have this metaphysical psychological type are said to be "on the Blue Ray".

In Hinduism, Blue is used to symbolically represent the fifth, throat chakra (Vishuddha
Psychics who claim to be able to observe the aura with their third eye report that someone with a blue aura is a person who is oriented toward spirituality. People with blue auras are said to be interested in social service work and to be in occupations such as social worker, counselor, teacher, writer, and psychologist.

Edward Hopper

(July 22, 1882 – May 15, 1967) was a prominent American realist painter and printmaker. While most popularly known for his oil paintings, he was equally proficient as a watercolorist and printmaker in etching. In both his urban and rural scenes, his spare and finely calculated renderings reflected his personal vision of modern American life.

Lyles Golden Syrup

Golden syrup is a thick, amber-colored form of inverted sugar syrup, made in the process of refining sugar cane juice into sugar, or by treatment of a sugar solution with acid. It is used in a variety of baking recipes and desserts. It has an appearance similar to honey, and is often used as a substitute for people who do not eat honey. It can also be used as a substitute for corn syrup.
Molasses or treacle has a richer colour than golden syrup, and a stronger, slightly bitter flavour.

Golden syrup was invented in 1883 by Scottish businessman Abram Lyle, when he discovered that a byproduct of the sugar cane refined at his factory in Plaistow, East London, could be made into a delicious spread and sweetener for cooking. First sold to Lyle's employees and local customers in wooden casks, the iconic green and gold tins that Lyle's golden syrup is sold in today were introduced in 1885. The tin bears a picture of the rotting carcass of a lion with a swarm of bees, and the slogan "Out of the strong came forth sweetness".

I think every city in the world had a 5th Avenue or Street. This one has an art museum.
I remember as a little girl going to the city and passing by so many galleries and Museums
and looking in the windows at all the beautiful art. I knew that someday I was going to be an artist that painted oil paintings. Who would have thought that the internet would be the place where so many artists would be uniting in online galleries and selling their paintings. The art world certainly has changed.

Abstract Oil Painting by k Madison Moore

Diagonal Confusion in 3D

18" x 18"

Abstract Oil Painting

SOLD - Commission

Abstractionism Series

Abstract Art indicates a departure from reality.
It does not attempt to represent external,
recognizable reality but seeks to achieve its effect using shapes,
forms, colors, and texture.

With my woven abstract oil paintings I have achieved these elements.
This another idea I came up with doing the woven strips on a diagonal.
The loops on this abstract painting are fairly high to create a real 3D effect.

Took a long time to weave all this media.
Tough to photograph as well, but I think I caught the dimension in these photos.

Colors: red, orange, blues, greens, yellow, sienna, copper and gold metallics

Visiting with the Masters

I knew a little boy who loved art so much that he went to art shows, museums, galleries and entered art contests in school with his oil paintings at a very young age. His favorite person to visit exhibits with was his grandmas as she always knew the art history behind the artist. I thought it would be cute to paint the memory of the little oil painter.

Henri Marie Raymond de Toulouse-Lautrec-Monfa or simply Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (pronounced [ɑ̃ʁi dø tuluz loˈtʁɛk]) (24 November 1864 – 9 September 1901) was a French painter, printmaker, draftsman, and illustrator, whose immersion in the colourful and theatrical life of fin de siècle Paris yielded an oeuvre of exciting, elegant and provocative images of the modern and sometimes decadent life of those times. Toulouse-Lautrec is known along with Cézanne, Van Gogh, and Gauguin as one of the greatest painters of the Post-Impressionist period. In a 2005 auction at Christie's auction house a new record was set when "La blanchisseuse", an early painting of a young laundress, sold for $22.4 million U.S.

Crayons Oil Painting by k Madison Moore

Crayons

16" x 20"
Oil Painting on Canvas

Sold - Commission

Inanimate Series

I have always wanted to do an oil painting of crayons. My art collector in the UK
commissioned me to do this oil painting of crayons in larger format. I was very excited
about painting this piece. Once I got started I was in for a big surprise. There are so many colors in this painting so many of the oil colors had to dry before I could use other colors next to them so they would not blend together. There are so many layers of paints and glazes to create this painting that I thought I would never get it finished. When I finally emailed her the photo of the painting and she Loved it, I was so happy. Though I really enjoyed the challenge I don't think I will be painting another one too soon as I though it would never end.

Crayons

A crayon (pronounced /ˈkɹei.ən/) is a stick of colored wax, charcoal, chalk, or other materials used for writing, coloring, and drawing. A crayon made of oiled chalk is called an oil pastel; when made of pigment with a dry binder, it is simply a pastel. A grease pencil or china marker (UK chinagraph pencil) is made of colored hardened grease and is useful for marking on hard, glossy surfaces such as porcelain or glass.

Wax crayons are commonly used for drawing and coloring by children. Crayons are a staple at most schools worldwide. They are easy to work with, not messy (as paint and markers are), blunt (removing the risk of sharp points present when using a pencil or pen), non-toxic, and available in a wide variety of colors.

Mothers Day Oil Painting by k Madison Moore

Mothers Day

Holiday Oil Painting
10 x 10

by
k Madison Moore
Contemporary Fine Artist

I wanted to paint something colorful and happy for Mothers day so I used all the colors that were on my palette from doing other paintings and this oil painting is the results of
my impressionism for Mother Day Flowers. Enjoy!

The modern Mother's Day holiday was created by Anna Jarvis as a day for each family to honor its mother, and it's now celebrated on various days in many places around the world. It complements Father's Day, the celebration honoring fathers.

This holiday is relatively modern, being created at the start of the 20th century, and should not be confused with the early pagan and Christian traditions honoring mothers, or with the 16th century celebration of Mothering Sunday, which is also known as Mother's Day in the UK.
In most countries the Mother's Day celebration is a recent holiday derived from the original US celebration. Exceptions are, for example, the Mothering Sunday holiday in the UK.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mother's_Day

The Bauhaus (1922–1933)

"On White II" (Kandinsky 1923)
The Bauhaus was an innovative architecture and art school whose objectives included the merging of plastic arts with applied arts, reflected in its teaching methods based on the theoretical and practical application of the plastic arts synthesis. Kandinsky taught the basic design class for beginners, the course on advanced theory as well as conducting painting classes and a workshop where he completed his color theory with new elements of form psychology. The development of his works on forms study, particularly on point and different forms of lines, lead to the publication of his second major theoretical book Point and Line to Plane in 1926. Geometrical elements took on increasing importance in his teaching as well
as in his painting, particularly circle, half-circle, the angle, straight lines and curves.

The Afghan Hound is a very old sighthound dog breed. Distinguished by its thick, fine, silky coat and its tail with a ring curl at the end, the breed acquired its unique features in the cold mountains of Afghanistan, where it was originally used to hunt hares, and gazelles by coursing them. Its local name is Tāzhī (Pashto: تاژی) or Tāzī (Persian: تازی). Other alternate names for this breed are Balkh Hound, Baluchi Hound, Barutzy Hound, Shalgar Hound, Kabul Hound, Galanday Hound.
